Susie Porter depicts a damaged but strong female character, a survivor of abuse - who doesn't behave in the traditional, expected or palatable way we might expect a victim to behave.

 

Most importantly she refuses the role of victim, even if it means seeking out trouble and telling tales, taking revenge on the wrong men, and punishing herself and her best friend.
